Dale Kasprzyk, resident agent in charge of the Buffalo office of the Drug Enforcement Agency, has been fighting the drug war in Western New York for 25 years. During that time he's seen the drug of choice shift from powder cocaine in the 1980s to crack cocaine in the 1990s. Over the last 15 years, the department has fought a new trend — opioid abuse that in many cases begins with prescription painkillers that lead to hardcore heroin addiction.
