Bills hire Hafley as defensive assistant

Tonawanda News — ORCHARD PARK — The Buffalo Bills have hired Jeff Hafley as a defensive assistant coach.

Hafley spent the past two seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and coached the team's safeties last year. He previously had 11 years of experience as a college assistant, including stints at Pittsburgh and Rutgers.

Also on Thursday, the Bills signed five players to reserve/future contracts, including former New York Giants receiver Ramses Barden. A 2009 third-round draft pick, Barden had 29 catches for 394 yards in 29 games for New York.

The Bills added another receiver Chris Summers, who spent 2012 on Minnesota's practice squad.

Buffalo also signed safety Jajuan Harley and linebackers Willie Jefferson and Nathan Williams. Jefferson played in six games for the Houston Texans last season before being released in October.
