Tonawanda News — Mud Hens edge Bisons in extra innings, 5-4

Hernan Perez’s RBI single in the top of the 11th inning brought home the game-winning run, as the visiting Toledo Mud Hens downed the Buffalo Bisons, 5-4, at Coca-Cola Field on Tuesday.

Perez, who also hit a triple and home run in the game, also scored the game-tying run in the sixth inning off a Eugenio Suarez sacrifice fly.

Darin Mastroianni and Dan Johnson homered for the Herd, who erased an early 3-0 Toledo lead with a three-run bottom of the third inning.

Ryan Tepera (2-2) took the loss for Buffalo, who fell to 27-28 on the season. The winning pitcher for Toledo (28-31) was Kevin Whelan (2-0).

The teams resume their series tonight at Coca-Cola Field in downtown Buffalo with the first pitch set for 7:05 p.m.
