Tonawanda News — Toledo scores in 9th, beats Bisons 1-0
Wade Gaynor’s home run over the left field wall broke a scoreless tie in the top of the ninth. Toledo pitcher Justin Miller then got three straight outs as the Mud Hens edged the Buffalo Bisons, 1-0, at Coca-Cola Field in downtown Buffalo Wednesday.
Gaynor’s solo shot came on a 1-2 pitch and with one out.
Raul Valdes, who came into the game in the top of the ninth for Buffalo, took the loss and fell to 0-1 on the season.
Miller picked up his fourth save with his bottom-of-the-ninth performance, clearing the way for Blaine Hardy to get the win and improve his personal record to 3-2.
Darin Mastroianni went 3-for-4 for the Bisons, while teammate Munenori Kawasaki went 2-for-3 with a double.
The Bisons fell to 27-29 on the season while the Mud Hens improves to 29-31. The two teams will resume their series this morning at Coca-Cola Field beginning at 10:35 a.m. Thousands of local children will be in attendance as the Bisons host their annual School Kids Day.
