Diane Crowe has been named publisher for the Lockport Union-Sun & Journal and The Journal-Register of Medina.
Crowe, who has been serving as advertising manager for the US&J, said Thursday she is excited about the new opportunity.
Greater Niagara Newspapers Group Publisher Steve Hall said he is pleased Crowe accepted the position.
“Our readers will come to find out what many of our advertisers already know, and that is that Diane prides herself on providing outstanding customer service,” Hall said. “Being a lifelong resident of Lockport, Diane knows the challenges that the market faces, and I’m confident she will move the US&J forward in addressing some of the issues.”
Crowe said she hopes her experience within the company and in the community will benefit her in her new position.
“I love Lockport and I love the newspaper business,” she said. “The biggest thing for me is the number of people I’ve gotten to know in the community. That’s been a huge plus.”
Crowe has been with the US&J for 16 years, starting out as an advertising secretary before moving up to sales.
She has been advertising manager for three years.
“Diane’s experience will enable her to continue the long-standing traditions that the US&J has had in providing the best local news and information,” Hall said.
Crowe, the paper’s first female publisher, said she is grateful for the leadership examples she has seen in Hall and other past publishers in Lockport.
“(It’ll be) a continuation of what Steve Hall has started in the past two years, which has been a huge partnership with the community, with the various businesses,” she said. “We think that we’re a vital part of the community, and we want to see businesses succeed in the area.”
