Unbelievable, awesome and beautiful are words tourists often use to describe their experience on a Cave of the Winds tour, said Amy Ortman, of Niagara Falls State Park. After descending 175 feet, visitors have five decks to choose from, including the Hurricane Deck, only 20 feet from the base of the Bridal Veil Falls, where they can expect 65 mph wind blown spray and up to 3 inches of standing water. This past Monday, workers began the hazardous task of rebuilding the wooden decks, a slow process taking approximately 5 weeks due to the massive ice buildup at the base of the American Falls.
