Nickel City Chef looking for challengers

Nickel City Chef is searching for local chefs to compete as challengers in the upcoming sixth season of the cooking competition.

Qualified applicants for the Iron Chef-style competition must work as a professional chef or sous chef at an independently owned restaurant, hotel, catering company or club within the eight counties of Western New York. 

Applications can be found online at and are due Dec. 13.

The sixth season begins in late February and tickets go on sale for the shows Jan. 3. 

Previous judges for the competition include Regina Schrambling, former New York Times deputy dining editor; John Horne, executive chef of Canadian restaurant, Canoe; Ivy Knight, co-founder and editor of; Izabela Wojcik, programming director at James Beard House; and Arlene Stein founder of Toronto’s Terroir Symposium.
