NT goes to the air to beat N-W

Tonawanda News —

The Falcons hung around, scoring two touchdowns of their own in the second quarter on a Jason Vranic 83-yard run and a touchdown pass from Andrew Doricko to Corey Gatto from five yards out.

Christian Mahoe caught Woodard's third touchdown of the day to give the jacks a 20-12 lead at halftime.

NT entered the game focused on figuring out the Falcons tough run defense. Truilizio said the plan was to attack through the air and open up holes for the run game.

"We knew they were a good defense and a strong offense," he said. "At the end of the day we knew running was going to be tough, although we got a couple rushing touchdowns, which I was very pleased about against that defense. We knew we had to go to the air to beat this team."

Senior Jon Zellner broke off the big rushing TD on the day for the Jacks when he went 41 yards to put NT up 27-12 in the third quarter. Woodard added a 25-yard rushing TD in the fourth quarter to close out the scoring.

"We're coming together as a team really well and it's a good thing for us that are coming back," he said. "But for the seniors we have to shift the focus to T-NT and look to win."
