High Schools: Hansen extends NT volleyball win streak to seven

Tonawanda News —

Junior Gabby Hansen dominated both offensively and defensively for North Tonawanda girls' volleyball on Thursday. Not only did she lead the offense with 22 kills, but she scooped up 13 digs in the victory.

The Ladyjacks (8-1, 7-1 NFL) swept the Blue Devils (2-6 NFL) 25-18, 25-22, 25-14. North Tonawanda has not lost since the second game of the season.

"(Hansen) was on fire," said head coach Jessica Anderson. "Over 50 percent of her balls were kills. I was talking to their assistant coach and we both commented that her jumping was so high and she was pounding every ball."

Junior Leanna Metzger recorded 12 digs and five aces in the victory with freshman Julie Milibrand adding five kills and two blocks.

For Kenmore West, Abby Borkowski totaled 14 digs as she did her best to slow down the Ladyjack attack.

North Tonawanda will travel to Niagara-Wheatfield on Monday Sept. 30. Niagara-Wheatfield is the only team to defeat the Ladyjack's this season. Game time is set for 4:30.
