Carli Leo won the deciding match in third singles in three sets to earn her fourth win on the season and help the Wolverines (4-7 NFL) to their first road win. The Falls also swept doubles play while Gretchen Wringler and Jessica Robbins won in first and second singles, respectively, to lead the Lady Jacks (4-7 NFL).

The Bulldogs’ Zach Jakes and Blue Devils’ Brett Phillips split medalist honors with 1-over rounds of 37 at Brighton Golf Course. Ricky Shotwell also shot a 38 for East (12-1 NFL) while Mike Davern and Chuckie Panetinto chipped in a pair of 39s. West falls to 2-11 on the year.

Nia.-Wheatfield 260, North Tonawanda 271

Medalist Zach Dubuc shot a 40 and Noah Wrazen added a 42 to help the Falcons improve to 10-3 at Deerwood. Alex Behr and Devin Donohue each had a 41 for the Lumberjacks (6-7 NFL).

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

Grand Island 3,

Ken West 0

Kyle Burns’ 10 kills and Adam Heftka’s 24 assists helped the Vikings (7-0 NFL) stay undefeated in league play. The Blue Devils fall to 1-6.

Nia.-Wheatfield 3,

North Tonawanda 1

Dylan Bobernus had eight kills and Sam Mattheus also had eight kills to go with seven blocks to lead the Falcons (3-7, 3-4 NFL) in the 25-18, 26-24, 13-25, 25-21 league win. Austin Hayes chipped in 35 assists in the win while Ryan Fritz’s seven kills and Joe Piotrowski’s six kills and 21 assists led the Lumberjacks (3-4, 3-4 NFL).

Ken East 3, Lockport 2

Kyle Patterson’s 17 kills and Michael Crawford’s 35 assists led a back-and-forth effort as the Bulldogs (7-2, 5-2 NFL) came away with the 21-25, 25-18, 32-30, 16-25, 25-16 league win. The Lions fall to 5-2.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Grand Island 3,

Ken West 0

The Vikings (9-0 NFL) remained undefeated on the heels of Lindsay Proctor’s five aces and eight assists and Al Brown’s 11 kills. Jessica Brownschidle also chipped in six kills in the 26-24, 25-9, 25-5 win. The Blue Devils fall to 2-7.

North Tonawanda 3,

Nia.-Wheatfield 2

Gabby Hanson led the way with 24 kills and 38 digs while Rachel Malone chipped in 14 digs of her own for the Lumberjacks (6-3 NFL) in the 25-18, 15-25, 19-25, 25-20, 25-19 win. Bailey Salemi’s eight kills led the Falcons (6-3).
