Tonawanda News — Jayson Taylor, Kenmore West

Stats: 31 tackles, 3 sacks, 1 interception.

Scoop: As a sophomore, Taylor was selected to the first-team Class AA defensive team. Coach Rich Harris called him an animal who is always around the ball and ready to make a play from his linebacker position.

DEFENSIVE BACK

Alimayu Akono, St. Joe’s

Stats: 18 tackles, 4 interception, 6 pass deflections, 1 punt block, 80 receiving yards, 1 receiving TD.

Scoop: Akono’s play in the secondary was a key for the Marauders this season. He teamed with Nigel Davis to make life difficult on opposing team’s QB’s.

Trent White, Kenmore West

Stats: 42 tackles, 1 interception.

Scoop: White was a second-team Class AA defensive selection. He had an impact in both the passing and running game with his cover skills and ability to help stop the run for the Blue Devils.
