Cheektowaga 9, Tonawanda 4

Tyler Gomez smacked a pair of hits and Cody McGregor scored twice for the Warriors in their third loss in as many games this season.

Niagara Falls 7, Nia.-Wheatfield 6

Chris Cardona hit a single in the top of the seventh to cross Mike Eagler, who went 3 for 3, for the winning run. Mike Colosi and Justin Beyer also had RBI singles for the Wolverines (4-1, 3-0 NFL), while the Falcons start league play at 0-1.

Lew-Port 1,Grand Island 0

Josh Koepsell hurled a gem, fanning a handful and allowing four hits and no walks in going the distance for the Lancers (4-0, 3-0 NFL). Koepsell’s counterpart, Quinn Corrao, took the tough-luck loss as he tossed a three-hitter and struck out four. Zach Dowsey led off the game with a triple and went on to scored the game’s lone run on a Joe Scirto sacrifice fly. Greg Nicolia was 2 for 3 with a triple for the Vikings (1-1 NFL).

SOFTBALL

Nia.-Wheatfield 11, Niagara Falls 1

Katie Mazierski was the foundation of the Falcons’ runaway seventh frame, smacking a bases-clearing triple to round out her three-hit day. She finished with five RBIs. Mackenzie Franks also had a multi-hit performance for N-W, going 2 for 4 and crossing home thrice. Lexy Gibson, the Falcons’ regular left fielder, pitched a complete game four-hitter, and the run she allowed was unearned.

North Tonawanda 8, Lockport 5

Natalie Harack and Amanda Szynkowski each had two RBIs in going 2 for 3 at the dish to push the Lady Jacks to 2-0 in the NFL. Sam Whalen picked up her second victory in dropping the Lions to 1-1 in league play.

BOYS TENNIS

Lockport 3, Ken East 2

J.J. Napoli (second singles) Nick Guay (third singles) and the first doubles team of Brandon Reid and Chris Pawlinski picked up wins to lock it up for the Lions.
