Monday HS Recaps: Stich fans 11 as Tonawanda edges JFK

Tonawanda News —

Ben Stich struck out 11 over a complete game, helping Tonawanda to a 3-2 win over JFK. 

Stich also went 2-for-3 for the Warriors (4-4), scoring twice. 

Andrew Ball added a double and batted in two, helping the Warriors improve to a 4-1 ECIC IV record.    

Niagara Falls 10, Kenmore West 1

Jake Martineau went all seven innings, striking out five as Niagara Falls defeated Kenmore West, 10-1.

Martineau, who allowed eight hits, went 2-for-3 at the plate, batting in two. Chris Cardona hit a 2-run triple for the Wolverines (11-3 overall, 8-0 NFL) and teammate Taylor Huntsman scored one on a triple of his own. 

Ben Serrano led the Blue Devils with two hits. 

Niagara Falls will host Niagara Wheatfield today. 

Lew-Port 7, Kenmore East 6 — 9 innings

Lewiston-Porter came from behind to edge Kenmore East in extra innings, 7-6.

Zach Dowsey went 4-for-5 for the Lancers (6-3 overall, 5-3 NFL), who tied the game at six in the seventh inning.  Joe Scirto and Austin Barr both went 2-for-4.

Luke Simmons and Preston Smith had two hits apiece for Kenmore East for the Bulldogs. 

Nia. Wheatfield 7, North Tonawanda 6

Bailey Cadwallaber went 2-for-3 and scored three runs as Niagara Wheatfied edged North Tonawanda, 7-6. 

Angelo Vilardo and Casey Gruain both had two hits and an RBI for the Falcons (4-3 overall, 4-2 NFL).

Victor Willison led the Lumberjacks with three hits. 

Niagara-Wheatfield will host Kenmore East today. 

SOFTBALL

Kenmore West 15, Niagara Falls 3

Charlotte Miller homered and hit a triple to lead Kenmore West over Niagara Falls (6-2), 15-3.

Lina Mirabella added three hits for the Blue Devils (6-0). Both Hannah Post and Adriana King added offense, batting in two runners apiece. 

Tonawanda 14, JFK 4

Hailey Slate went 3-for-4 with two doubles and a triple as Tonawanda bested JFK, 14-4.

Rachel Allen pitched five innings for the Warriors (3-2), striking out seven. Sydney Myers went 3-for-4 with a triple and Becca Toth added two singles.
