CANDIDATE LETTER: Community activism defines candidacy

The Tonawanda News

Tonawanda News — Some of you may know me, and some of you may not; my name is Brian Jopp, and I am running for Common Council in the Fourth Ward on the Republican line. The Democratic candidate for this same position is Jenna Koch.

The fact that I am not gaining enough “name recognition” has recently been brought to my attention, and here is my response to that. I am not a professional politician, nor do I aspire to be. You will not see me at every single event in the city simply because it is good campaigning. You will not see me making fake connections with the potential voters. You will not see me at your door during dinner so that I can insincerely ask you what I can do for you, the whole while only hoping that I gain your vote.

You will see me spending time with my family and children. You will see me at the Tonawanda Football Clinic coaching, or at a Warriors Game cheering for our team. You will see me coaching baseball at the Little League field or youth wrestling in the gym. You will see me at an elderly neighbors house helping with the yard work that is getting too hard for them to do alone.

You will see me at these places, because that is where I want to be; not because it will look good for my campaign. I am running for this position because I love this city and I want to do whatever I can to make it an even greater place than it already is.

The residents of this city are far too intelligent to be fooled by a candidate who does all of the “right things” for all of the wrong reasons; and more importantly they deserve a person who knows and respects that. I am that person.

If anyone would like to contact me for any reason, I am always available. You can reach me by phone at 828-5341, email at, or physical address of 272 Brookside Terrace.

Brian Jopp

Candidate, Fourth Ward
