HIGHER EDUCATION: NCCC gives out award; NU offers nursing seminar

Niagara County Community College sophomore Margaret Minderman of Lockport was awarded the 2008 President’s Medallion Tuesday at the NCCC Student Activities Awards banquet.
The President’s Medallion is presented each spring to a graduating sophomore student who has contributed significantly to the development of co-curricular programs at the college. The President’s Medallion recognizes academic achievement along with outstanding contribution and achievement out of the classroom.
Minderman, who carries a 4.0 grade-point average, is a member and president of Phi Theta Kappa and a member of Alpha Beta Gamma. As president of the Culinary Arts Club. She also volunteers at Roswell Park Institute and is a member of the Lockport Historical Society.

Niagara University will host a nurse leadership academy from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. May 22 on the fourth floor of St. Vincent’s Hall. The topic will be “Developing the Next Generation — Leadership Succession Planning.”
The conference will facilitate discussion among participants on developing leadership in nursing and health care and identify critical areas that need attention in assuring a professional leadership succession plan.
