Niagara Falls Niagara University will host a 5-kilometer run and fun walk called “Stomp Out Stigma” on April 27. All proceeds will benefit the Mental Health Association of Niagara County Inc. The event is co-sponsored by the university’s Campus Programming Board, Student Government Association and the student chapter of Active Minds.

The first 200 registered participants will receive a t-shirt and commemorative pint glass. The cost of the event is $19 for the general public. Entries must be postmarked by April 17. Individuals may also sign up on the day of the race for $22.

A 1-mile fun walk will start from the Kiernan Center on Niagara’s campus at 9 a.m. The 5K run begins at 9:15 a.m. A post-race party and awards ceremony will take place in the Kiernan Center.

Philosophers from across the United States will gather at Niagara University on April 18 and 19 for the eastern regional meeting of the Society of Christian Philosophers.

The conference, themed “Options and Issues in Applied Ethics,” will feature keynote addresses by Jorge Garcia of Boston College, Alexander Pruss of Baylor University and Gerald McKenny of the University of Notre Dame. Thirty-four other philosophers are scheduled to deliver papers on Christian perspectives on bioethics, business ethics, race studies and forgiveness.

Alexander U. Bertland, Ph.D., assistant professor of philosophy at Niagara, is serving as conference coordinator.

The Society of Christian Philosophers was organized in 1978 to promote fellowship among Christian philosophers and to stimulate study and discussion of issues which arise from their Christian and philosophical commitments.

Seminar details will include controlling freight costs, including short- and long-term strategies, problems facing traffic management, freight rates, structures and terminology.

Kallock has more than

40 years of industry, consulting and government supply-chain experience centered on improving both customer confidence in logistics support and financial performance. His career has focused on management improvement programs in many industries, including consumer products, retail, industrial products, automotive, health care, and information technology.
