TOWN OF TONAWANDA: Pickup slams into rig on 190

Part of the I-190 in the Town of Tonawanda was closed for three hours early Wednesday after a South Carolina man, who was driving down the highway the wrong way, crashed head-on into a tractor trailer, state police said.

Derrick Chisholm, 40, of Hardeeville, S.C., was traveling north in the southbound lanes when his 2005 Dodge pickup collided at 12:59 a.m. with a tractor trailer operated by Kevin Seelbinder, 45, of Youngstown, troopers said.

Chisholm was transported to Erie County Medical Center for a fractured hip and head injuries. Seelbinder was treated and released from ECMC for a minor head laceration.

The accident closed both southbound lanes of the 190 until 3:45 a.m. Wednesday, when the right lane was reopened. Both lanes reopened at 5:30 a.m.

Chisholm was charged with driving while intoxicated and driving the wrong way.
