Staff Reports
A Simson Street, City of Tonawanda man is facing felony charges after he attacked a woman with a knife early Saturday.
Louis Wasnick, 50, 17 Simson St., was arrested in his home while sleeping on his couch. Police reports said Wasnick choked the woman during a domestic dispute, twice cutting her neck with a kitchen knife. He then “took the knife and rubbed it across her nose,” causing a third cut.
None of the wounds were life-threatening, according to police.
Wasnick was charged with second-degree assault, criminal possession of a weapon, second-degree menacing and unlawful possession of marijuana.
Four officers entered Wasnick’s home after the victim fled and called police. After taking him into custody, Wasnick told them he needed medication from his bedroom. When officers led him there in handcuffs, they found a small amount of marijuana on the dresser, according to reports.
Wasnick was taken to DeGraff Memorial Hospital for an evaluation. He was held for court.
The victim did not require hospitalization but was described by police as “very shook up” after the incident.
