SOUND OFF: Published Sept. 10

All this talk about the football field and the drainage. That’s to me not the problem. How about fixing the P.A. system. The announcer is giving his time up to announce the games and you can’t even hear them. It sounds terrible.

Instead of always taking things away from the children, busing, sports, music, art, any of those things, why don’t the teachers take a decrease in pay? They’re so overpaid it’s pathetic. Yeah, people are complaining about teachers — because we’re getting fed up with all the benefits and the costs for having a teacher go to a classroom and half the time they don’t teach. They’re talking about their home activities and all sorts or personal stuff, even swearing at the kids. Maybe they should take the big pay cuts like everyone else because I think maybe we should have the Japanese come in and teach our children because their children sure know a lot more than ours. It’s not because the children are bad, it’s because the teachers are not teaching.

Have you had a chance to talk to some of our new school principals yet? I have. The middle school and Spruce principals are absolutely wonderful. They have so much energy and can help to troubleshoot problems. This is a direct reflection on our new superintendent. He knows quality. I think we are off to a great start for a changing school year. Thank you Board of Education and Mr. Superintendent!

CSX railroad repaired the tracks along Erie Avenue. They left all the old railroad ties along the tracks in piles. When are they going to clean up their garbage?
