BLOTTER: Police reports published November 3

The Tonawanda News

Smashing pumpkin gets man arrested

A man was arrested early Sunday morning after a visit to his boyfriend’s house allegedly turned ugly.

Town of Tonawanda police responded at 4:45 a.m. for a call of a man beating on a door and screaming. As they approached the location, officers found John W. Haggerty walking away from the house, allegedly highly intoxicated and with his pants unbuttoned and unzipped.

Haggerty said he was trying to get in contact with his boyfriend, and also told police that his aunt is the chief of the NFTA police and would have all of their jobs. He denied being the subject of the call, even though the owner of the home positively identified Haggerty as the man who smashed his pumpkin and shouted profanities and threats when told the police had been called.

Haggerty was charged with criminal tampering, harassment and trespassing.
