The Tonawanda News

Tonawanda News — CAMBRIA — A pair of 18-year-old men suspected of stealing manhole covers were arrested Monday by Niagara County Sheriff’s deputies.

Kyle Alexander Arne, 202 S. Meadow Drive, North Tonawanda and Cody James Corson, 4102 Mapleton Road, Pendleton, were charged with petty larceny. Both parties denied being involved with other manhole cover thefts in the area.

According to the report, deputies responded to Eagle Drive for a suspicious vehicle call at 7:49 p.m. The deputies saw a green Dodge pickup with a male standing near the truck. There were several items in the bed of the vehicle.

Arne said he was scrapping and he had removed two manhole covers from Eagle Drive. He said Corson was hiding nearby. Corson returned to the truck and both teens said the other items in the bed of the truck were from his backyard.

The manhole covers, valued at $300, were placed back where they belonged and the suspects were issued appearance tickets.
