Tonawanda News — The City of Tonawanda School District has received an offer on Central School, which is currently up for sale, the district’s real estate agent confirmed Monday.
No details about the offer are being released, but the board has scheduled a special meeting for Tuesday night to discuss the offer for the 34,720-square-foot building. The list price for the school is $325,000 and the building was put up for sale in early January.
The school hasn’t been used as a full-time educational facility for over a decade. It has recently housed a teachers’ center, the district’s archives and The Historical Society of the Tonawandas’ archives.
Although there were some discussions of swapping the building with the city to develop it into a community center, the board was hoping that selling the building would bring in extra funds to help with the district’s financial struggles.
