Tonawanda News — Barker man accused of unemployment fraud

A 56-year old Barker man faces unemployment fraud charges after his arrest by New York State Police on Friday.

Kenneth E. Mitchell was charged with one count of third-degree grand larceny, 37 felony counts of first-degree falsifying business records and 37 counts of first-degree offering to file a false instrument. 

According to the State Police, Mitchell is accused of collecting unemployment insurance on numerous occasions between 2009 and 2011 while he was working.

After his arrest, Mitchell was released on an appearance ticket. He’s due in Lockport City Court on Jan. 6.
