Tonawanda News — A City of Tonawanda man was rescued Monday from the Niagara River after falling off a boat while duck hunting.
Richard Sander, 61, was picked up by nearby hunters, after he lost his balance and fell into the cold waters of the river from a boat just off of Motor Island, according to Ray Pauley, a spokesperson for the Grand Island Fire Department.
He was taken to Beaver Island State Park, where 18 members of the fire department and other emergency workers met and treated him for hypothermia. He was taken to Kenmore Mercy Hospital by Twin City Ambulance. His condition is not known.
