Tonawanda News — The Town of Tonawanda Republican Committee has voted to make Sean O’Neil its new chairman.
“Winning elections is kind of my thing right now. We want to win, and we want to grow this committee,” O’Neil, a former reporter and writer, said Thursday. “The numbers are not anywhere near where they need to be, and we need to start reaching out to people.”
With only a few Ken-Ton area races coming up, O’Neil said he’ll be focusing on recruiting members and rebuilding.
“We want to get the committee back on its feet, and start winning again because that hasn’t happened in a while,” he said.
The vote came after Mark Tramont stepped down from the position. Tramont said his new position as president of St. Mary’s High School made it too difficult for him to remain chair of the committee.
“I’ll still be treasurer of the committee and I’ll be helping out Sean with the transition,” Tramont said.
