Tonawanda News — In a salute to the women of Western New York, the Chamber of Commerce of the Tonawandas will be hosting the third biennial Women’s Expo and Boutique on April 12 at the Tonawanda Castle.
Responding to positive reactions to the previous two events, this year’s expo boasts a wide array of vendors and representatives from local companies providing everything from clothing and jewelry for sale to cooking and psychic demonstrations.
“Over 1,000 people came to the last one. We’ll have over 90 companies present this year,” said Joyce Santiago, the executive director of the Chamber of Commerce of the Tonawandas. “Every single room (in the Tonawanda Castle) is utilized. There’s something around every corner.”
The idea started as a way to balance the years that the Chamber doesn’t have its T-NT Expo. The focus was to highlight local businesses that provide services likely to be utilized by women, including access to legal and medical information and interior design consultations.
While the expo is an open event allowing attendees to explore as they desire, there will be a few scheduled events. Fashion shows will be held at 10 a.m., 12, 2 and 4 p.m; an exercise presentation will be held at 11 a.m.; the Solo Travelers Club will present at 1 p.m.; and there will be a demonstration about the use of herbs in cooking at 3 p.m.
Debbie Capozzi, owner of Diva 2 Diva, will be present for her third time as a vendor at the Women’s Expo. Diva 2 Diva sells stylish and unique jewelry and accessories.
“It’s a wonderful event for the ladies, especially with spring coming,” Capozzi said. “Women can come out to have a great time and find out what’s new and exciting in their community. It’s a good time for merchants and the people, they meet new customers and new friends.”
