Tonawanda News — BUFFALO — A 52-year-old man, previously from the City of Tonawanda, pleaded guilty to two counts of predatory sexual assault against a child, first-degree sexual abuse and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child Thursday according to the Erie County District Attorney’s Office.
Donald Filer admitted to raping and sodomizing a 10-year-old juvenile between February and March 2007. He also pleaded guilty to sexually abusing a 5-year-old juvenile in March 2007.
Filer, previously of Fremont Street, faces a maximum sentence of 25 years to life when he is sentenced Feb. 7. He is already serving an indeterminate sentence of 32 years to life for a Niagara County conviction on May 15, 2008, involving one of the same juvenile victims.
Filer was initially arrested in April 2007 after a mother complained he had inappropriately touched her 5-year-old daughter.
During the investigation, Filer admitted to sexual contact with the girl’s 10-year-old sister, City of Tonawanda police said.
Filer offered to watch the 5-year-old girl while her mother ran errands, detectives said. He allegedly sat down behind the girl and stuck his hands down her pants and underwear and began to make sexual advances toward the child. Police said the girl was able to get away and hide under the covers in a nearby bedroom.
Some of the abuse occurred while Filer lived with the girls in North Tonawanda, according to police.
Filer is the father of a son with the girl’s mother, but he is not married to her.
