Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Kizer celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

• The Adams Fire Company received a $44,633 grant from FEMA and the U.S. Fire Administration to establish a wellness and fitness program for volunteer firefighters.

• More than 500 people paid tribute to Carl W. Baisch, retiring superintendent of the Union Free School District, at a dinner at the Statler-Hilton in Buffalo.

• Demolition work connected with Tonawanda’s downtown urban renewal project was not expected to get under way until the spring of 1964, according to City Engineer Perry Wilson. About 80 buildings were included in the plan.
