GOP committee to interview candidates

Tonawanda News — The Kenmore Tonawanda Republican Committee chair, Mark Tramont, announced Monday that a selection committee will be formed to choose candidates for the year’s upcoming local races.

The body, with assistance from committee Vice President Mario Alaimo, will interview potential candidates for the open positions.

Between the village and the town, there will be seven open positions on the ballot, Tramont said.

“This year voters in Kenmore and Tonawanda will be choosing three town councilmembers, a town highway superintendent, two village trustees and a village justice,” Tramont said.

Tramont said he has heard about many local residents who are interested in serving in the positions, and that the committee will ensure an open process is used for the selection of the final candidates who will receive official party backing.

The committee will begin interviewing potential candidates Feb. 18 at 2000 Sheridan Drive.

“The process will consist of a meeting with the selection committee followed by a confirmation by the committee at large,” Tramont said.

To be considered as a candidate, contact Tramont by emailing him at or calling him at 462-0693.
