• The 2-day T-NT Expo had 100 exhibitors.

• Meaghan Chapin, Brittany Lucas and other members of the Jr. Girl Scout Troop 971 made cut-and-tie baby blankets for Project Linus that provides blankets to children who have been through traumatic experiences.

1988 — 25 years ago

• Joan Baker was named Nurse of the Year by the Millard Fillmore School of Professional Nursing Alumni Association.

• Fourth graders from Ohio School in North Tonawanda toured Webster Street as part of a unique learning program in which the youngsters explore the city.

1963 — 50 years ago

• Ronald Bressette won 1st place in Den 2 and emerged as champion of the Cub Pact 193 pine wood derby.

• Rose Nowak rolled a 550 and Marion Armstrong a 548 in the Del-Ton Bowling League.

1943 — 70 years ago

• Tonawanda firemen were called out twice to battle grass fires on the Two Mile Creek Road and on the site of the Eastern Lumber Co.

• Selective Service Board of Tonawanda took over quarters in the Firemen’s Benevolent Association Building at 43 Main Street. Since its organization, offices were occupied in the City Hall Building in South Niagara Street.
