Tonawanda News — The Tonawanda City School District ranked 41st out of 97 school districts in Western New York, leading the three Tonawanda districts, according to Business First's ratings.
The Ken-Ton district wasn't far behind, coming in at 45th, while North Tonawanda ranked 66th.
Last year, Tonawanda was ranked 40th, Ken-Ton was ranked 48th and NT came in at 56th.
The ratings are based on four years of test data from the New York State Education Department. Each district's rank reflects the collective performance of its elementary, middle and high schools.
Williamsville took first place for the 11th straight year, with East Aurora and Clarence in second and third.
Business First also released a roll call of the elite districts and schools on Friday. The list includes districts who were ranked 14th or better, as well as every school that finished in the top 10 percent of its category’s overall standings and every school that won a subject award.
No districts made the list. Mount St. Mary Academy received a spot on the honor roll for its standings and subject awards, as did St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute.
