Tonawanda News — An inmate at the Niagara County Jail threw urine on a corrections officer early Friday morning, the Niagara County Sheriff's Office said.
Kevin J. Horton, 42, homeless, was charged with aggravated harassment of an employee by an inmate, a class E felony. Horton is currently incarcerated on burglary charges for an incident on June 27 in the City of Lockport.
According to the Sheriff's Office, the corrections officer was making his rounds in the jail about 12:15 a.m. when Horton made a loud noise toward him. When the officer turned to face him, Horton made a throwing motion with a styrofoam cup at him, striking him on the left side of the face with an unknown liquid which turned out to be urine.
The officer recovered from the shock of the liquid hitting him in time to see Horton scoop another full cup of urine out a toilet and throw it at him again. The officer was able to avoid the second attempt and moved out of the way. Throughout the entire incident, Horton was yelling "run, fat man, run" at the officer, the Sheriff's Office said.
Horton was arraigned in Lockport Town Court, where bail was set at $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond. He is due back in Lockport Town Court on July 17.
