Former NT mayor McGinnis dies

(Continued)

Tonawanda News — “On certain projects that involved Erie Canal Harbor, I would work with Jim McGinnis,” Schimminger recalled. “He was a real gentleman. He was one of the greats. By virtue of working with him, watching him, I was able to learn from him. He was a person of great civility and class. He will be missed.”

Republican Mayor Rob Ortt was first to publicly release the news about his predecessor’s passing.

“My heartfelt condolences go out to the family and friends of Mayor McGinnis,” Ortt said. “I know that many of his children and relatives still reside in North Tonawanda and our thoughts and prayers are with them during this difficult time.”

Funeral arrangements for McGinnis were not immediately available Tuesday.
