• Five years after construction was to have begun to ease congestion on the international Peace Bridge, big rigs were still regularly running into standstills at the U.S.-Canadian border.

• The Frog Grill at Warrens was advertising their Mother’s Day offering consisting of a carving station, an omelette station, a waffle station and a full buffet.

1989 - 25 years ago

• Thousands of shoppers turned out for the opening of the $100 million Walden Galleria Mall that featured 220 stores.

John F. Kopczynski, industrialist and inventor, was granted his 70th patent for his new invention, the Teeter Truck, a six-wheeled vehicle with three wheels on each side that acted independently.

1964 - 50 years ago

1944 - 70 years ago

• All meats except for beef steaks and beef roasts were removed from rationing. All cuts of pork, veal, lamb and mutton were now point-free, including variety meats, sausages, and canned fish.

Roland F. Tiebor Jr., returned to his home in Dexter Street from New York City where he spent several days as the guest of his father, Capt. Roland F. Tiebor, who was presenting his Trained Seal act at the Madison Square Garden where he was appearing with the Ringling Brothers Barnum Bailey Circus. Miss Gloria Tiebor, attending Albany State Teachers College, joined her brother in Albany and also spent the weekend with her father.
