Dunlop jobs moving to Ohio

Tonawanda News — Ten Goodyear Dunlop Tires North America employees will be transferred to the company’s headquarters in Akron, Ohio, according to a spokesperson.

Media representative Chris Curran said the employees work in the motorcycle sales and marketing division. The decision will not affect the tire manufacturing division, which employs between 1,100 and 1,200 individuals.

“A handful of employees were also laid off in the process,” Curran said.

Curran didn’t specify the number of individuals laid off, but he estimated the number to be about six.

The decision was made in August in an attempt to integrate the company and increase efficiency.

“It will deliver extra value to shareholders,” Curran said. “It also involves building the talent teams and expanding career opportunities.”

The move and adjustments are set to be complete by the end of the year.
