Man sentenced for porn

Tonawanda News — A North Tonawanda man with a history of arrests was sentenced to one and a half to three years in prison this week for possessing images of child pornography.

Hollis Stewart, 38, was arrested by New York State Police on May 8 after an Internet crime unit was alerted by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, who said Stewart had left a number of disturbing voicemail messages at a Buffalo-area online chat service.

Police said the messages expressed his desire to talk about his sexual fantasies involving underage children. When police approached Stewart, who lived on Main Street, about the messages, they said they also found several images of child pornography on his phone.

On Thursday, Stewart was sentenced in Niagara County Court before Judge Sara Sheldon Farkas after he pleaded guilty to possession of a sexual performance by a child. He will also be required to register as a sex offender upon his release, though the level, which indicates the severity of his offenses, will not be determined until that time.

Stewart was also arrested in 2011 for pulling flowers out of a bed at Bethesda Church in the City of Tonawanda and was taken to the Erie County Medical Center for a psychological evaluation.

He was also charged with burglary, trespassing and disobeying a mandate when he climbed through a window of his ex-girlfriend’s apartment on Delaware Street and jumped into bed alongside the woman and her new boyfriend.

He fled the scene and was found hiding under his bed. He formerly lived on Keller Avenue in Kenmore and Morgan Street in the City of Tonawanda.
