Tonawanda News —
A Ken-Ton Middle School teacher has been placed on administrative leave amid allegations of criminal conduct, a press release from the town police department states.
The Town of Tonawanda Police Department and the District Attorney's Office are investigating the matter, but no criminal charges have been levied. The target of the investigation has not been identified.
"Releasing any further details would be detrimental to any prosecution that might result," the release states.
The district also released a statement Tuesday afternoon, but did not release any further information.
“Student safety is always our first concern and we placed the teacher on administrative leave from all school district property immediately upon hearing the allegations,” Superintendent of Schools Mark P. Mondanaro said.
The district will communicate further details when it is appropriate to do so, the statement reads.
District teachers contacted by the News Tuesday said they did not know any information about the teacher at the center of the investigation.Contact reporter Jessica Bagley at 693-1000 ext. 4150, or follow her on Twitter at @JessicaLBagley
