Tonawanda News — The Town of Tonawanda Paramedic Unit has received a new emergency response vehicle thanks to the efforts of the James V. Ryan Foundation.

The foundation, formed in 1985 in memory of the late Town Supervisor, was created to support emergency medical services in the town and Kenmore.

The foundation received generous community support for their 2011 drive, which made the purchase of the new emergency vehicle possible.

The new vehicle is a 2013 Chevrolet Suburban and was donated to the paramedic unit in October. The vehicle is fully equipped to respond to any and all types of medical emergency calls.

Over 7,000 medical emergency response calls are expected to be taken for the 2012 year.

Over the past decade, the foundation has donated cardiac monitors and defibrillators, dispatch communication systems and other emergency response vehicles.
