•Tonawanda school board members voted unanimously, without ceremony, to rename the press box at Clint Small Stadium after “The Voice of the Warriors”, Jason Zdrojewski, who had died unexpectedly two weeks earlier.

•Several Tonawanda High School graduates, including James C. Holler (’53), Dr. John Thorne Crissey (’41), and Lloyd J. Long (’38), were honored as distinguished alumni.

1963—50 years ago

•The North Tonawanda High School class of 1913 was planning to kick-off their 50th reunion with a get-together in the Tonawandas Town Club. An informal program would follow for class members and their honored guests – two former faculty members.

1943—70 years ago

•For $2.50 per week, parents of pre-school age children could head for their defense jobs at 6:30a.m. knowing that junior would have lots of fun while they were working on the assembly line. In the Gilmore school in North Tonawanda Miss Milllie Almy, Director of North Tonawanda Extended School Services, had set up the “War Nursery” for children from two to four years of age whose parents were employed in war industries.

•The Misses Mary Jane and Lois Dick entertained at a linen shower at their home in 211 Broad street in honor of Miss Edith Dierdorf whose marriage to Mr. Benedict Worbert was to take place the latter part of June. Pinochle and bridge featured the entertainment. The bride-elect was presented with a corsage and a guest favor.
