Police question Falls principal

Tonawanda News — niagara falls — A Falls school district administrator is being questioned by police in connection with an allegation of misconduct made by a former student.

The Gazette has learned that the principal of the 79th Street School was taken out of the school on Monday and brought to Falls police headquarters. He was interviewed by detectives there.

“There were allegations of misconduct by a school administrator and he was brought to police headquarters for questioning as part of an ongoing investigation,” Falls Police Superintendent Bryan DalPorto said. “Because it is an ongoing investigation, we are not going to say anything more about it.”

DalPorto did say that the administrator was not taken into custody or transported in handcuffs.

The nature of the misconduct is not known, but sources tell the Gazette the allegations may date as far back as 15 years.

Angelo Massaro, attorney for the city school district, said the matter is under investigation within the district, as well.

He said because the matter is a personnel issue, the district wouldn’t be able to comment about the investigation.

“There’s been some allegations made which the district is now reviewing and will be investigating,” Massaro said. “This matter has nothing to do with 79th Street School or the 79th Street School community. Until the investigation is complete, we are cannot comment any further.”
