Tonawanda News — It’s not ever days that doctors and dentists offer free services and advice, but that’s exactly what will take place early next week.

Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center will celebrate the first anniversary of its River Road Primary Care Center with a free outdoor health and wellness screening on Monday.

The fair will feature free health screenings and interactive health care displays, with physicians and pharmacists on hand to answer health care questions.

Brown bag pharmaceutical safety reviews will be offered by Wellness Pharmacy. Those seeking a review should bring all their prescription and over-the-counter medicines in their original containers.

The medical center was launched after the arrest of Dr. Matthew Bennett, who previously had his office in the building. Bennett was charged with allegedly doling out prescription pills from his office and Clarence home illegally, police said.

“We took over after he moved out,” said Pat Bradley, Niagara Falls Memorial’s communications director. “It’s hard to believe it’s been a year already, and we’re glad that we were able to step in and open a busy primary practice.”

Smoke on the Water will serve food at the event with the first 100 meals offered for free. Music will be provided by Ultimate Event with DJ Scott Dirmeyer and the North Tonawanda Police Department will conduct child car seat safety checks.

The fair will take place from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at 624 River Road. For more information call 278-4570.
