Tonawanda News — NIAGARA FALLS — An international maritime security conference is held this week in Falls wraps up today.
Seebald & Associates International is the organizing agency for the three-day inaugural International Facility Security Officer (iFSO) Conference at the Sheraton at the Falls Hotel.
Rear Admiral Fred Midgette, the most senior commander of all U.S. Coast Guard activity for the five Great Lakes and the St. Lawrence seaway, opened the conference with remarks that highlighted the integral role that FSOs serve in protecting America’s critical infrastructure, and thanked those in attendance for all the work they do on behalf of the country.
Regarding the conference, Midgette noted that the iFSO conference was “… a great opportunity to see what works and what doesn’t work,” in the realm of maritime security.
Edward Seebald, founder and CEO of Seebald & Associates, International, announced this year’s award recipients to recognize facilities and entities with proven policies and best practices effective to achieve security.
Six awards were presented to signify Excellence in Maritime Security.
“Each of the Excellence in Maritime Security award recipients have demonstrated outstanding best practices and innovative ideas in the pursuit of securing their domain. Their achievements and practices deserve to be recognized and emulated across the maritime facility security realm,” said Seebald.
The remainder of the iFSO Conference will reflect a “think-tank” atmosphere that promotes the flow of ideas and information in the realm of maritime facility security.
