Tonawanda News — Business First announced Friday that it will be releasing the 2013-2014 school rankings starting next week.
The guide to the 429 school districts across 48 counties will be posted each weekday morning, Business First said, from Monday until Oct. 11.
Several specialized ratings, including administrative efficiency, socioeconomic climate and teacher pay, will be released next week. Then, between Oct. 7 and Oct. 11, academic ratings of the region’s districts will be released.
In 2011 and 2012, the Rochester suburb of Pittsford was the highest-rated district in the area.
Business First has been issuing annual performance ratings since 1992, and the online releases will be accompanied by a 480-page electronic guide that details all the school districts.
All of the rankings are based on the latest four years of test results and graduation rates, which are made available by the New York State Department of Education. This year’s ratings are generated from testing data between 2009 and 2012.
Ten percent of the ratings are based on graduation rates, 50 percent on high school exam scores and 40 percent on middle and elementary school tests.
