Kenmore Mercy makes call for volunteers

Tonawanda News — Kenmore Mercy is in need of volunteers and is asking local residents to consider donating time at the hospital.

The hospital is in need of volunteers at the front desk. Information volunteers are responsible for issuing visitors passes, giving information and directions and escorting patients. There are openings on the second and fourth Tuesday and every other Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m.

Substitutes are also needed when a volunteer is unable to come in for their shift.

Volunteers are also needed in the surgical waiting room. Those volunteers give updates on the surgery status and room number information when a patient is admitted. There is a permanent opening on Wednesday mornings from 9 a.m. to noon. Substitutes for those positions are also needed.

Gift shop volunteers are also necessary. They greet the customers and work the cash register. Shifts are available on the weekends, evenings and substitutes are also necessary.

All volunteers receive training and support. Those interested in taking part should contact Lynn Overbeck, the director of volunteer services, at 447-6188.
