THURSDAY: Woman reports $6K in jewelry taken (5:01 p.m.)

Over $6,000 in jewelry was reported stolen from a Royalton home Wednesday.

A Rochester Road woman told deputies she returned home from work about 6:30 a.m. and noticed what appeared to be blood on the wall of her living room.

The woman said she initially didn’t think anything of it, but when she woke up later that morning she decided to investigate where the blood came from.

The woman found a basement window had been smashed, and a pitchfork was on the ground outside the window, the report said.

She began checking inside the house and discovered several pieces of jewelry, including an amethyst bracelet and earrings, assorted gold and diamond earrings, a blue topaz ring, a diamond ring, a diamond tennis bracelet, a gold anklet, a gold nugget bracelet, a rope chain with a crucifix and a white gold necklace, had been stolen.

The jewelry was worth about $6,375. The woman said $200 in cash was missing, as well.
