THURSDAY: Shot for 2nd time in a week, Rochester man dies (11:31 a.m.)

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) — A Rochester man who was shot and wounded while hitching a ride last week is dead after being gunned down in a second attack.

Police say 24-year-old Jamel Scott was found shot in the head on the porch of a house late Tuesday. He was declared dead a short while later. Five days earlier, he was wounded in the hand and chest when he flagged down a car while walking home late at night from the suburban town of Riga.

Investigators say the circumstances and the motive for the killing are unclear. It’s also not known whether the two attacks are linked.
