A resolution in support of Tom Christy’s “Legislative journal,” formerly broadcast on LCTV, will begin tonight’s Common Council proceedings.
The item was addressed early last month but has failed to make the agenda.
Council members also could vote to reduce the water billing cycle from 30 to 25 days. The change would complete efforts begun by the city in order to squeeze about $600,000 worth of water-usage into the current budget year.
When water and sewer expenses were tabulated for this year’s allocations, that was the amount of money needed to offset expenses the city incurs for wastewater treatment and delivery without raising rates.
Council members will also address concerns raised by the Department of Public Works regarding seasonal work crews required for garbage collection.
The current rate, just above the minimum wage set at $7.25, is making seasonal recruitment difficult for the department. The Council is ready to consider raising that to something closer to $9.
Bids for work on several phases of ongoing engineering and DPW construction have been selected and will be announced at the meeting.
— The body will vote on an asbestos consultant agreement as part of the River Road Storm Sewer Outfall replacement project.
— A bid will be considered for the electric and fresh water components of the dock project along Sweeney Street. About 800 feet of additional wharfage was installed near the east end of Gateway Harbor Park in March and the chosen party will be awarded the job of installing boater pedestals there.
— Four other bids will be considered surrounding the purchase of various road construction materials for the DPW.
— In addition, North Tonawanda City School representatives will be on hand to request assistance with their annual carnival June 13, 14, 15.
