Man charged with lewd acts in NT

Tonawanda News — North Tonawanda Police are searching for additional information on a Buffalo man arrested Wednesday for allegedly exposing himself at least twice this year within city limits.

Steven J. Adamitis, 25, 1995 Delaware Ave., Buffalo, Apt. 1A, reportedly exposed himself publicly in May and September, once in proximity to a teenage girl, according to police. Adamitis is believed to have worked in North Tonawanda.

He was arrested at police headquarters at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday and charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child and two counts of public lewdness. He was arraigned Wednesday in North Tonawanda City Court and remanded to Niagara County Jail.

While details are scant, as the investigation continues, Police Capt. Thomas Krantz said Adamitis recently made statements to Det. Lt. Karen Smith indicating that the acts took place in the city.

Investigators are also reaching out to city residents to gather whether other unreported acts of lewdness took place in recent months. Detectives continue to probe the possibility that they also may have occurred in surrounding communities.

Those who may have been been approached by Adamitis or who have information on other lewd acts are asked to call 692-4317.
