NT woman skims from employer

Tonawanda News —

A North Tonawanda woman could spend up to four years in prison for stealing more than $20,000 from her East Amherst employer. 

Kathleen B. Pittman, 47, of Bella Drive, pleaded guilty to fourth-degree grand larceny on Monday in Erie County Court after admitting to skimming $20,743 from Northtowns Orthopedics on Transit Road. 

Pittman, a bill secretary and administrator there, falsified patients' billing records between Jan. 4, 2006 and Nov. 19, 2012, adjusting the co-pays and pocketing the money, according to Erie County District Attorney Frank Sedita. Pittman used the money for personal expenses. 

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Susan H. Sadinsky of the county's Special Investigations and Prosecutions Bureau. 

Pittman will be sentenced at 9:30 a.m. Sept. 9 by State Supreme Court Justice M. William Boller.
