Tonawanda News — LOCKPORT — A business with locations throughout Niagara County will receive a payment-in-lieu-of-taxes agreement to expand its facility on Niagara Falls Boulevard in North Tonawanda.
Irr Supply Inc., which has three locations in Niagara County including Niagara Falls and Lockport, is requesting a 15-year PILOT and sales tax exemptions from the Niagara County Industrial Development Acengy. The plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration and electrical wholesaler is planning a $2.25 million renovation of its 908 Niagara Falls Blvd. location in NT.
Michael Duffy, Irr Supply president, told the IDA board the project would consist of renovating and modernizing the facility. The improvements would also take care of the company’s need for a distribution center, meaning Irr Supply wouldn’t have to move.
The remainder of the work includes asbestos abatement, office equipment purchases and computer upgrades. The company is also losing a tenant but is negotiating with a replacement, which could lead to further renovation.
The project is expected to create up to 24 new jobs in addition to the 86 people Irr Supply already employs. The state and regional benefits offered to Irr Supply would total more than $3.7 million.
Work is expected to start this summer.
